Every summer the Kolping Society of Cincinnati presents a festival called Schützenfest. At this festival German-American Culture is celebrated. Of course this includes beer, brats and lederhosen. It also includes a somewhat unique shooting competition (hence the name Schützenfest) where the men of this organization compete for the title of König (King). You can read more about it here ⇢
I was asked by my friend Joe Wessels to help put together a graphic for the Schützenfest Program depicting the reign of his grandparents König Steve & Königin Anni Wessels in 1963. The graphic was included with other past kings and queens on this 150th Anniversary of Schützenfest Zinzinnati (Cincinnati).
Joe provided me a couple of high resolution photos of his grandparents, and I created this design to fit the allotted program space. It was a real honor for me to design this graphic and I do appreciate the feedback from Joe and from his cousin Marianne. Their input really helped to make this piece standout.
